I am Ms. Lena Tabla Cummings a hands-on peacebuilding activist and civil society leader experienced in designing, delivering and evaluating capacity building and institutional strengthening trainings with a principal focus on advocacy, community mobilization, citizen participation and project development, in particular for gender mainstreaming issues. I have worked with The Women NGO Secretariat (WONGOSOL), a Civil Society Organization as a consultant since 2013 and now a Project Coordinator for WONGOSOL Election Projects. I provide support in project development, management and Oversight of planning, training and implementation activities of capacity building, organizational development and women peace and security of WONGOSOL (Secretariat and network members). I have conducted numerous trainings in community-based conflict prevention for women, Women Leadership, Women’s Rights, Gender Based Violence trainings for women and for men the focus has been on masculinity as well as training Local Government Authorities on localization of UNSCR 1325. I’ve conducted and participated in several surveys, on women UNSCR 1325 entitled “Civil Society Monitoring Study” In Country Implementation of UNSCR 1325, Liberia’s Mental Health Assessment, Baseline study of Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices and Behaviors of People in relation to Gender-Based Violence in 4 locations in Liberia and a baseline survey to analyze “what specific gender expertise is available in mediation from within member states of ECOWAS”. I’ve strong programming skills which derive from my extensive professional experience in community work, coupled with my Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work and additional certifications in related work.
